The Plant Controller will partner closely with operations and corporate finance teams to ensure accurate financial data, implement cost-saving initiatives, and drive continuous improvement within the plant. The Plant Controller will be responsible for reporting, cost analysis, cost reductions, inventory control and production setups within our ERP system.
COMPENSATION: $165 – $190K/Year DOE
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Perform the monthly financial close for the plant, ensuring accurate and timely reporting of financial results.
- Responsible for weekly financial reporting to Upper Management and Operations with analysis of variances to plan for all 5 cost components (Labor, Raw, Pkg, VOH and FOH)
- Analyze variances between actuals, forecasts, and budgets; provide clear explanations and actionable recommendations.
- Monitor and manage cost accounting functions, including standard cost development, inventory valuation, and variance analysis (materials, labor, and overhead).
- Monitor subledger and general ledger activity.
- Develop of the annual business plan and quarterly forecasts for all 5 cost components
- Prepare slides for weekly, period and quarterly presentations including KPI’s and financial result explanations.
- Maintain strong internal controls over plant assets and transactions, ensuring compliance with corporate policies and external regulations.
- Partner with plant leadership to identify opportunities to improve operational efficiencies and reduce manufacturing costs.
- Develop and maintain detailed financial models to support production planning, capital expenditures, and margin improvement projects.
- Support audits, both internal and external, by preparing required documentation and schedules.
- Provide financial leadership in evaluating new product lines, equipment investments, and facility expansions.
- Responsible for accuracy of all production/standard cost setups within our ERP System
- Maintain accuracy and control of all inventories including outside warehouses
- Regular and dependable attendance and punctuality is an essential function of this position.

QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or related field.
- 5+ years of progressive finance/accounting experience, including 2+ years in a plant controller or cost accounting role in a food manufacturing environment.
- Strong understanding of manufacturing finance, cost accounting, inventory control, and standard costing.
- Proficient in ERP systems, advanced Excel skills and PowerPoint presentations.
- Experience in food manufacturing or consumer packaged goods (CPG).
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to read, analyzes, and interprets general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
- Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
- Ability to calculate basic financial equations. Apply concepts of basic algebra.
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variable.
