Responsible for managing engineering capital projects including scheduling, scoping, cost controls, reporting automation, process, packaging, mechanical, structural, civil, electrical and architectural. Also, responsible for managing utility projects including ammonia refrigeration, wastewater, HVAC, electrical distribution, hydraulics, high- and low-pressure air and water systems, warehousing and employee welfare areas. This role will be based in Vernon, CA (Los Angeles, CA) but expected to travel to other locations to support other plants (Dinuba, CA; Denison, TX; Florence, SC; or other areas as needed).

COMPENSATION: $135 – 160K/year DOE

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Oversee development of projects from inception through close out. Responsible for estimation, cost controls and reporting.
  • Determine scope, cost and benefit analysis for automation initiatives in processing, production, bakery, primary and secondary packaging working with the engineering and supply chain teams.
  • Support the technical needs of the company by understanding customer requirements, market demands, and competitors’ capabilities and products, identifying and analyzing trends in technology, understanding and quantifying company strengths and shortcomings and conferring and collaboration with other members of management.
  • Develop standards for electrical and automation projects.
  • Manage capital projects as necessary to meet the company’s financial and operational objectives.
  • Be instrumental in developing long-term budget planning, costs, timing, and execution to meet business and operational needs.
  • Conduct a continuous search of new materials, processes and procedures to enhance and improve production line efficiencies or reduce operational costs.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, preferably Electrical, Mechanical or Chemical, or related field with a minimum of 5-10 years of experience in a food-processing environment.
  • Must be able to manage an execute major projects of $100k to +$20MM from concept development through implementation including scheduling and cost controls
  • Able to interpret P&ID drawings and specifications, electrical design, network designs, PLC & HMI development, and electrical troubleshooting.
  • Be able to run team meetings and manage Risks, Actions, and Communications plans.
  • Have a working knowledge of ABB and Fanuc Robotics.
  • Must be capable of supervising crews and or maintenance personnel during projects.
  • Flexible to work weekends, holidays and nights depending on projects.
  • Must be a self-motivated individual with experience working in teams to accomplish objectives.
  • Ability to analyze data and develop recommendations and solutions.
  • Excellent planning, organizing and project management skills, PMO certification preferred
  • Ability to interact effectively at all levels and across diverse cultures.
  • Knowledgeable and use of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook. Microsoft Project, and AutoCAD.

  • 5 years: Project Management
  • 5 years: Food Processing Environment
