Job Title: Human Resources Assistant

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Knowledgeable and experienced in a variety of areas of Human Resources including but not limited to policies and procedures, benefits, regulatory compliance, recruiting, training, regulatory compliance and employee relations.
  • Advises team members of policies and procedures, benefit changes, hiring opportunities and effective human resources practices in regard to Team Member issues.
  • Maintain team member records to include I-9 maintenance and E-Verify compliance.
  • Coordinates team member updates / changes with the Payroll Department.
  • Prepares weekly and monthly reports as requested.
  • Maintains strict confidentiality of sensitive information, able to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment, able to prioritize, multi-task and work extended hours as necessary to accommodate workforce schedules.
  • Assist with benefits administration to include change reporting, assisting team members with benefits, and communicating benefit information to team members.
  • Maintain knowledge, understanding and adhere to safety policies, USDA, GMP’s, QA, HACCP, Sanitation rules and regulations, and company policies.
  • FMLA – Review documents for Team Members returning from Leave, schedule drug test and update status in HRIS System.
  • Create identification badges for new hires and replace badges as needed, maintain badge supplies.
  • Answers incoming telephone calls, screens call and refers to proper contact.
  • Assists team members directly with routine inquiries.
  • Assist in company Birthday Club meetings and other duties as assigned.
  • Maintains team member files including payroll statuses and other employee personnel documents in line with company record retention requirements.
  • Regular attendance and punctuality are essential functions of this position.
  • Respond to email correspondence in a timely and professional manner.

SKILLS: 

  • 2- or 4-year degree in Human Resources or related fields preferred.
  • 1-2 years’ experience in human resources in a manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Highly organized; detail oriented; accurate; follow-through on execution of projects and tasks.
  • Must have the ability to maintain confidential information.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills. Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Must have working knowledge and skills in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
  • Bi-lingual in English/Spanish is preferred.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
