Job Title: Safety Technician
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide medical First Aid treatment, and triage injured team members to the medical treatment.
- Inspects machinery and equipment for accident prevention devices.
- Observe team members to determine use of prescribed safety equipment, such as Safety Glasses, Goggles, Respirators and Clothing.
- Inspects specified areas for Fire Prevention Equipment and Safety and First Aid Supplies.
- Test working area for noise, toxic and other hazards, using decibel, light meter and gas detectors.
- Prepares Report of Finding with recommendation for corrective actions.
- Investigates accidents to ascertain causes for use in recommending preventive safety measures and developing safety programs.
- Conducts daily safety audits of the different company departments and reports finding to the shift supervisor or department manager, and creates a final report submitted to the safety department daily.
- Submits safety work orders on machinery or equipment that needs to be repaired or replaced.
- Conducts safety meetings and stretch exercises prior to shift start-up.
- Demonstrates the use of Personal Protective Equipment and other safety equipment.
- Maintain knowledge, understanding and adherence to safety policies, USDA, QA, HACCP, Sanitation rules and regulations, and company policies.
- Must be dependable and reliable with a good attendance record.
- All other duties, as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Emergency Medical Technician Certification.
- High School Diploma/ GED.
- Bilingual English and Spanish preferred.
- Knowledgeable in OSHA and other Regulatory Compliance Laws a plus.
- Ability to read, write and perform basic math functions.
- Must be able to lift 50-60 lbs., climb stairs and prolong standing.
- Basic knowledge in Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Knowledge of HACCP and GMP’S a plus.
SALARY: DEPENDING ON EXPERIENCE (NON-EXEMPT)
